Islanded In A Stream of Stars

From Night on the Great Beach, in Henry Beston's The Outermost House

"For a moment
of night we have a glimpse of ourselves and of our world islanded in its stream of stars— pilgrims of mortality, voyaging between horizons across eternal seas of space and time."

  1. Beautifully poetic 🙂

  2. thanks for this. i’ve since checked out the book from my local library and i’m going to give it a go. it’s referenced in the title of an upcoming battlestar galactica episode, and that combined with your short little post was enough to convince me to grab it.
i find the book so far compelling, although i do need to read certain passages several times–and out loud, occasionally–to grasp them.

  3. @Crimsonsilk – Uhuh, it’s arresting 🙂
@ryan – I actually first spotted it in a quote about that very BSG episode and followed a trail to the book 🙂
