    This is quite a well established idea within the interaction design/usability/user experience/IA field. The first concept model I was introduced to for “experience design” rather than bare bones usability was Whitney Quesenbury’s “5 E’s”, which details five key factors that can be combined to create the right experience for a particular context/set of users. Her intial article is still very usability-focused, but she does talk about the “engaging” qualities of interaction design as being a key factor to consider.
